HAYLEY CHISNALL grew up in Colchester and started learning the viola
aged 13. She took lessons at the Junior Guildhall with Timothy Boulton,
and continued learning with him privately while taking a German degree
at Goldsmith’s College, University of London, as well as studying for a
year in Frankfurt with Klaus Dillman. She joined the National Youth
Orchestra aged 16 and continued a member until she was 19. On finishing
her degree, she studied the viola for two further years with Hatto
Beyerle at the Hanover Hochschule. On returning to Essex, she taught
with Essex Music Services and played with a number of local orchestras,
including performing as soloist in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante.
Hayley is currently teaching and continues to play with the Colchester Chamber Orchestra,
the Kingfisher Ensemble, the Colchester Philharmonic and a number of other groups.
