The Singing in September Concert at Orwell Park School on Sunday 21st September was a great success and raised over £1000 for the Pimlott Foundation and Age UK Suffolk.

The guests were treated to an inspiring programme of musical and operatic highlights performed by professional singers including Richard Moore, Daniela Bechly, Caroline Kennedy, Christopher Blades, Samantha Price and 15 year old Maia Elsey (from East Bergholt School) accompanied by pianist Lindy Tennent-Brown.

Pupils from Orwell Park School performed alongside the soloists, and their contribution was hugely appreciated by the audience.

Maggie James, Fundraising Officer said “the concert was a great success and enjoyed by the many guests and pupils of Orwell Park School.

The programme, devised by soprano Daniela Bechly allowed both the soloists and pupils to shine.

Pupils from Orwell Park School were given the opportunity to perform songs from well-known operas and musicals, including The Magic Flute, Oliver and Matilda, with Daniela Bechly and Richard Moore.

We were so pleased to be invited by Headmaster, Adrian Brown and Martin O’Brien (Head of Music) at Orwell Park School to organise the event with the Pimlott Foundation and to raise funds for both charities.

posterDaniela Bechly said “To be given the opportunity to perform at Orwell Park School ‘s legendary Orangery, and to be invited back next year, is a privilege for the Pimlott Foundation as well as for Age UK Suffolk.

The children’s joy working with professional singers was palpable. I am glad we were able to involve the soloists for our 2015 Colchester Mercury production of Humperdinck’s Opera Hansel and Gretel.

It’s exciting how voices can be in either a musical or operatic context.”
