Laura Fleur

British mezzo soprano Laura Fleur is on the Opera course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, studying with Susan Waters. She previously graduated from the Royal College of Music with a first class honours Bachelor of Music and a Master of Performance with distinction.

Laura is a Help Musicians Sybil Tutton award holder. Throughout her studies she has been kindly supported by a TSH Prince Donatus and Princess Heidi Von Hohenzollern scholarship, the Pimlott Foundation, the William Gibbs Educational Trust, the Sylvia Harris Award, the Mario Lanza Educational Foundation and a Countess of Munster Award.

Laura’s recent concert work has included Classical Opera and the Mozartist’s concert tour of Così fan tutte, Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the Orchestra Age of Enlightenment at the Royal Festival Hall and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Bach’s St John Passion, Mozart’s Requiem, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Messiah, Walton’s Façade, and Bach cantatas with the London Handel Orchestra and a Mahler song project with Roger Vignoles. Laura is a 2019 Leeds Lieder Festival Young Artist.

Operatic experience includes Mrs Kneebone in A Dinner Engagement (RCM Opera Studio), the title role in Dido and Aeneas (Hurn Court Opera), Melanto in Il Ritorno D’Ulisse (Suffolk Villages Festival), Nerone in L’Incoronazione di Poppea (The New Renaissance Collective), Amastre in Cavalli’s Xerse, Dafne in Caccini’s Euridice (Ensemble Orquesta), Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte (Broadstone Music Series) and contemporary opera premieres as Angelica in Lara Poe’s The Fermi Paradox, and Embryo 3 in Sophie Sparkes’ Our Perfect Child (RCM/Tête-à-tête). She is a 2020 Garsington Alvarez young artist, where she was cast to cover 2nd Nymph in Rusalka. At the Drottningholm Slottsteater, Stockholm, she performed in Handel opera scenes as Serse and Sesto.
