
Eliza Burkitt is a versatile London-based violinist. As a graduate of Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Eliza is classically trained, but enjoys a varied freelance performance schedule spanning classical music, theatre, pop, folk and street performance. She frequently plays with Brixton Chamber Orchestra, and is part of their ‘Grime Orchestrated’ project, most recently performing a headline set at Hootenanny Brixton. In addition, Eliza has performed with independent artists at venues including Koko, Vortex Jazz Club and Folklore Rooms, and providing strings in studios including Abbey Road and Brighton Electric. In the last year, Eliza has played for productions at Charing Cross Theatre, Thursford Christmas Spectacular and Epsom Playhouse, and can often be found playing with street performance groups in Covent Garden!
As a classical player, she frequently performs with piano trio ‘Trio Òran’, with upcoming dates in London, East Anglia and Scotland. She has recently been part of orchestral projects with St Paul’s Sinfonia and British Sinfonietta, performing a range of classical and modern repertoire.
Along with playing, she is passionate about promoting music in education, and has a particular interest in the effect of music on mental health and wellbeing. Eliza is a violin teacher for both Redbridge and Lewisham Music Hubs, having benefitted from the Benedetti Foundation Ambassador Programme, where she was able to learn from a diverse programme of lectures and masterclasses given by renowned educators. Eliza regularly delivers intergenerational music sessions through charity ‘The Together Project’ and is working to curate a concert series in residential care settings with the belief that music making should, above all, be about creating connection and a joyful experience for all involved
