Something About Kim
I began playing the oboe at the age of 11 after having studied dance, piano and singing. At the age of 18 I was accepted at The Juilliard School of Music and there I obtained my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Oboe Performance.
I free-lanced in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania for many years and then at the age of 40 I relocated to England. I now live near Ipswich in Suffolk County.
I currently play oboe, cor anglais and oboe d’amore with several orchestras, chamber ensembles and chorale society orchestras in Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk Counties.
I teach oboe, piano, theory, singing, flute, clarinet, and saxophone in a purpose built music studio in the garden of my home.
My oboe reeds are profiled and hand made to the extent that I adapt a profile to my own idea of how the reed should sound. I begin most of my pupils on my softer reeds and professional and semi-professional oboists use my harder reeds.
Please do try my oboe reeds – they are economically priced. Most of all, please schedule a lesson with me. I am an exciting and innovative teacher. I use many different techniques to inspire children and adults.
