More about the performers

Anke Dennert studied recorder and harpsichord at the Hochschule für Musik in Hamburg. Her enthusiasm for the harpsichord and its fascinating, wide-ranging repertoire led her to major in keyboard instruments. After studying with Robert Kohnen in Brussels and Andreas Staier in Cologne, she completed her performance degree in harpsichord and clavichord in Hamburg with Gisela Gumz. The musician has set much of her focus on the revival of forgotten works, in particular compositions by female composers. She has recorded the sonatas by Anna Bon di Venezia on the Aeolus label. As specialist for north german keyboard baroque repertoire she has recorded Johann Schop, Matthais Weckmann and Georg Philipp Telemann’s Solo Overtures on historic harpsichords (Christian Zell, Hamburg, 1728 C.C: Fleischer 1716 and Thomas Hitchcock, London1730) for Genuin label .

She performs internationally as a chamber musician with the Ensemble Hamburger Ratsmusik and has participated in numerous recordings – Jean Barrière – Persia and Baroque – Dietrich Becker: Sacred Concertos…and radio broadcasts.

Anke Dennert teaches historical keyboard instruments and figured bass at the Hamburg Conservatory and offers courses in early music.
