Finn Anderson-Hendra

Finn is 16 and has been playing cello since she was 3. She previously studied with Ben Davies at Junior Royal Academy of Music, moving to Junior Royal Northern College of Music in September 2024, to study with Jacob Shaw who she also works with as a scholarship holder at Scandinavian Cello School in Denmark.

Finn is a keen soloist. Her latest performances were Elgar’s Cello Concerto with Oxford Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Robert Max, and Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C with SSCO at JRAM conducted by Suzie Collier, as winner of the concerto prize. She has won numerous prizes at JRAM and in local and international competitions, including progressing to the later stages of BBC Young Musician in 2024. She is principal cello of the National Youth String Orchestra, and plays with the York Gate String Quartet, formed in 2023.

In addition to classical cello Finn enjoys folk cello, accordion and tin whistle, history and politics, and experiments with composition and multimedia film making. In 2023 her playing was featured on the podcast of Ian Lynch, a member of the Irish folk band Lankum.
