Abbie is a 24-year-old Mezzo Soprano from Essex, currently in her second year
of postgraduate studies at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she
is a scholarship recipient under the guidance of John Evans. Previously, she
studied at the Royal Academy of Music, studying with Yvonne Howard, Alex
Ashworth, and James Cheung.
During her time at the Academy, Abbie participated in the prestigious ‘Bach in
Leipzig’ concert series, performing as a soloist with esteemed conductors
including Jane Glover, Peter Whelan, and Iain Ledingham.
Abbie’s concert performances include singing in the Barbican Concert Hall as
part of a small semi-chorus in Mendelssohn’s Elijah, conducted by Sir Antonio
Pappano, alongside renowned artists such as Gerald Finley and Dame Sarah
Connolly.
In opera, Abbie has portrayed a range of roles, including the title role in Carmen
for St Paul’s Opera, the Second Witch in Hampstead Garden Opera’s production
of Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), and Mercedes in the Royal Academy of Music’s
2022 opera scenes production of Carmen (Bizet). She was also a member of the
chorus in British Youth Opera’s 2022 production of Sir John in Love (Vaughan
Williams).
Abbie was also a 2024 Young Artist of emerging sustainable touring opera
company Wild Arts, performing as Third Lady in their production of The Magic
Flute. Next year will see Abbie as ‘Tisbe’ in Hampstead Gardens production of
Cenerentola.
Abbie has been recognized for her vocal excellence, receiving the Freda Parry
Scholarship, reaching the finals of the 2024 Susan Longfield Competition, and
being a runner-up in the Guildhall’s English Song Prize.
