STEVEN PIMLOTT

The Pimlott Foundation was established 2007 in memory of Steven Pimlott, inspired by his versatility, passion and love of music making.

The Foundation’s aim is to bring together aspiring performers with professionals and promote concerts and live events in buildings of historic interest while also delivering an educational programme which supports performing arts in the local area.

Steven Pimlott OBE, was a highly respected and successful international theatre and opera director at the time of his tragically early death. Renowned for being able to tackle anything from straight drama and Shakespeare through to comedy, musicals and opera he was an Associate Director at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, the Royal Shakespeare Company and he was one of the Artistic Directors at the Chichester Festival Theatre.

His most memorable West End production was Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.  Other notable productions include Carmen at Earls Court and Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George at the National Theatre, for which he won an Olivier Award.

His many RSC productions include Hamlet and Richard II, Samson and Delilah for the Bregenz Festival, the British premiere of Borodin’s Prince Igor for Opera North and Eugene Onegin at the Royal Opera House.  Steven was also a talented oboist and enjoyed playing in many local orchestras and ensembles in East Anglia, where he lived with his family.
