The unique countertenor voice of Yaniv d’Or has confirmed his status as one of the rising stars of the modern international music scene.
His voice has captured the attention of music-lovers around the world and he is in demand for his performances, which include many styles of opera from baroque through to contemporary. His vocal virtuosity combined with a wide palette of vocal colours, a talent for movement as well as unique and powerful acting abilities, have won him critical praise and high acclaim from critics the world over.
British-Israeli Yaniv d’Or studied at the Rubin Academy in Jerusalem and then at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, in London. His operatic performances include the title roles in Handel’s ‘Gulio Cesare’ (New Israeli Opera, Göteborg Operan), Gluck’s ‘Orfeo’ (Lithuanian National Opera, New Israeli Opera), and Cavalli’s ‘Orion’ (Wilton Hall, London).
Yaniv has also performed the roles of Nerone and Ottone (Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea), Sorceress (Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas), Tolomeo (Handel’s Gulio Cesare) for Göteborg Operan, New Israeli Opera and Wiesbaden Staatstheatre.
Others include Medoro in Handel’s ‘Orlando’ for Independence Opera and Arsamenes in Handel’s ‘Xerxe’s for British Youth Opera, Crippled child (Shohat’s The Child Dreams) for Wiesbaden Staatstheatre and New Israeli Opera, Melindo ( Vivaldi’s La verita in Cimento) for Garsington Festival UK, Artemis (H.W Hanze’sPhaedra) for Lucern Festival, Delfa (Cavalli’s Giasone) for Flemish Opera, Barman (Auden’s Age of Anxiety) for St. Gallen Theatre, Rabbi Elbaz (Baradanshvili’s Journey to the end of the Millennium) for New Israeli Opera and Teatro del Opera di Roma.
Yaniv has performed for HM the Queen at Westminster Hall, London and broadcasted by the BBC. Other performances include Handel’s ‘Israel in Egypt’ for the Halle Handel Festival and the Israel Festival, Handel’s ‘Susanah’ (Jehoyachim) for Ripasso Stockholm, Carrissimi’s ‘Jephte’ for the Innsbruck Early Music Festival, Handel’s Messiah for SBS, IPO, JSO, Bardanashvili’s ‘Children of God’ for the National Georgian Festival, and recitals at Wigmore Hall London, Vesaille Palace, Dome des Invalides, Paris, Tel Aviv museum, to name but a few.
Future operatic and concert engagements sees Yaniv performing Gluck’s ‘Orfeo’ in the Savondlina Festival (Finland); Concert tour with Ensemble NAYA including the Wigmore Hall London, and Carnegie Hall, New York; the International Handel Festival in Göttingen Germany; the National Festival in Croatia; the Israel Festival, Schubertiade Tel Aviv with Graham Johnson; and Festival de St. Agreve, France.
