Trio Òran are an exciting and dynamic young Piano Trio, formed of Catherine Duncan (piano), Natalie Alfille-Cook (cello) and Eliza Burkitt (violin). Having met during their studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, the Trio have benefitted from the guidance of esteemed chamber musicians including Sam Armstrong, Adrian Brendel and Caroline Palmer. Highlights so far include participating in the Virtuoso Belcanto festival in Lucca, Italy; being selected as finalists in the Ivan Sutton Chamber Music competition, and performing a recital at the inaugural Three Rivers Chamber Music Festival in Scotland, of which Catherine is the artistic director. They share a passion for bringing to life works that have historically been underrepresented in classical performance, and hope to present programmes that inspire audiences to enjoy a range of musical styles and traditions. This evening, they present a programme of music inspired by folk melodies and musical traditions from around the world. This is a celebration of the rich musical palette and diversity of influence that has built an ever growing repertoire for the Piano Trio. Amongst works by composers including Vaughan Williams and Germaine Tailleferre, Trio Òran will also be performing their own arrangements of traditional tunes nostalgic of the places that they each call home’.
